3.6.2.2 Analysis

The quantities of cinnamon product exported also exhibited irregularity and that its revenues went according to the trend of the quantities being exported. The amounts were in the range of 43,000 kg to 146,000 kg while its revenues  ranged between RM156,711 and RM590,262  for the same period. Looking at the graph for cost per unit kg of export, the price  initially decreased until year 2002 and increased again  in year 2006. Trading in this product brought in higher profits than that of garlic.

As in the trading of garlic, export of cinnamon essentially was an entreport trade where the imported product was re-exported to clients’ countries. Profit seemed to be the driving force for the business activity.   The differences between per unit kg of the product’s export and import values ranged from 26 cents to RM1.36. However , in year 2002,  the difference was at negative 56 cents.
