3.6.12.2 Analysis

Generally, the  trend for the export of ginger had been on the increase in quantities for the period between years 2000 to 2007. The reasons for this occurence were various ,  one  of which was that there was a thrust  for   the use of herbal medicine in most importing countries. The export from Malaysia was relatively large from 188,967 kg in 2002 to about 1.672 million kg in year 2007.  Similar trend can be observed  in the revenues obtained from the export of the product.  The cost per kg was generally low from RM0.98 to RM2.59. However, the unit cost was not consistent from year to year  depending d on the business environment. The profile for the unit cost exhibited irregularity during the period.

With respect  to differences in unit costs of products between exports and imports, the negative and positive values were equally spread throughout  the period showing  that the export business  had been unpredictable.
